About the Artist:
Akram Dost Baloch is a renowned Pakistani artist, painter, and sculptor from Nushki, Balochistan, recognized for highlighting Balochi culture and human rights through his art. A graduate of the National College of Arts (NCA) Lahore, he is a founding faculty member and former Chairperson of the Fine Arts Department at the University of Balochistan.
Focus: His work combines traditional Balochi motifs—embroidery, weaving, and wood carving—with modern, often monochromatic, landscapes that reflect local life, politics, and culture. He was awarded the prestigious Pride of Performance by the President of Pakistan in 2004. He served as a professor and led the Fine Arts department at the University of Balochistan, contributing significantly to art education in the region. His work has been exhibited internationally, including in Paris and at the Asian Art Biennale in Bangladesh. Currently, he is based in Quetta and has served on the board of trustees for the Mohatta Palace Museum and as a member of the Board of Governors at the National College of Arts.
